Hi Kelly, it's super simple to do. Slip the sock on your hand, place your thumb in the heel and the other fingers where the toes normally go and clean away using whatever cleaning solution you normally use. We mix up a batch of one part liquid fabric softener to four parts water, It helps to repel the dust
Hello. Do you have any kind of extendable pole like a swiffer. To avoid purchasing the replacement heads you could use a sock on it.
Swiffer makes the extendable dusters that work great. They bend at the head of the duster to get on top of the blades very easily. I can even reach the top of the light globe with it.
I like to use an old pillow case. Preferably flannel. But it catches any dust and animal hair that may build up, from falling on the floor or furniture. Or just vacuum first.
You can put a sock or other material on the end of something that will bend to the shape. I would slightly dampen it to make it more effective.
I purchase a bendable microfiber duster. It is great for ceiling fans, inside the light fixture, baseboards, walls, and crown molding. It's a small investment with a big pay off.
Here is a site that explains in detail how to clean your ceiling fan with a pillow case:

I have a dust allergy and have tried all these methods and no matter what, I have had dust fall and scatter, so I always placed a sheet over the bed (if the fan is in the bedroom) as a drop cloth.
