How can I fix older garburator?

Question

Older garburator is leaking a bit. Can I paint or plaster it up with a no leak material & use it as a sink drain? I don’t mind slapping stuff on to keep the under sink dry. We are seniors and when we’re gone, they’ll be bulldozing our home. We’ve been in our home since 1977  What can I do instead of calling a plumber?

Depending on where it's leaking, you may just need to tighten the flange or replace gaskets that are worn. Take a closer look. Hopefully it's an easy repair.

I agree with Ann. Could be just the gasket needs replacing. Or it just needs tightening. Nothing you can slather will stop the leak. It will just come back.
