How do I clean the shower glass and bottom rubber rims of door?

Anna
by Anna

My shower enclosure looks similar to your master bathroom. Hubby “forgets” to squeegee everyday:(

the doorway swings open either way in or out and the bottom rubber rim is the worst cleaning job...yuk

clorox bleach spray is rough on my asthma. Bad knees & lower back so I have to sit on shower stool to get the lower areas of shower clean and do it over a few days to limit the exposure of breathing in the tile cleaner & glass cleaners.

thank you

Anna

HI Anna, I wonder if spraying it with white vinegar every day would help?

I discovered wet & forget shower a few years ago and it has been a life saver. Spray once a week and I NEVER clean my shower. My glass doors look like new. No mildew or stains.

I bought a little brush with a long flexible handle that I run up under mine to clean it -I too have asthma so I spray it under the door and then turn on the fan in the bathroom shut the door and leave it for a couple of hours

  • Put equal amounts of vinegar and Dawn dish soap in a spray bottle. Spray it on and let it work. Use a brush or scrubber for the tough stuff.

  • I use a 50/50 mix of dish soap to vinegar, spray it on, let it sit and then give it a light scrub. Don't let it sit too long as vinegar dissolves grout.

    Hello,

If your Hubby forgets, Remind him, If he can remember but never does it, go into the bathroom with him and hand the squeegee to him. or do it while he is still in there.. Or Get a long pole, or say "I can no longer do it due to health reasons and say we need to employ a cleaner". He won't like the extra expense., and that may be all that is needed.

Thanks I gave up long ago, he pays for a cleaning lady! Let’s just say it’s been a long year during COVID we discontinued having people over unless it’s repairs! I booked her services after my vaccine:)

My go to mixture is 5-6 oz of blue dawn dish soap and 30 oz of white vinegar, squirt it on and let it set for 30 min, then clean off with a brush, wipe dry.

Hi! An elderly friend once shared with me that after drying off from a shower, she wiped everything down with her bath towel. She had tile and glass and it was always clean. I use a squeegee but, husband doesn't, so I keep ours nice by wiping it down after my showers. Works well with only occasional extra cleaning. Best wishes!

Hi Anna, maybe you should remind your hubby that you are not his Mom! You can get him to clean it for you with vinegar, then pick up a new squeegee and some after shower spray for him to use after each shower. This should be his new job, since you have asthma.

Sorry to hear that, but hopefully the after shower spray helps

Use vinegar instead of strong cleaners. I can't stand the smell of most of them. Spray and use a broom to clean the bottom so you don't have to bend.

If you want to completely change the color of your grout. There is a product by Mapei called Grout Refresh. You can find it in Floor and Decor and Home Depot sells a few colors, but Amazon has many colors. It is not hard to use, just time consuming. I changed the color of my 2 bathrooms grout several years ago. It has a sealer that prevents stains, and it still looks brand new.

Sorry, I Use this recipe once a week and I have no hard water stains on my glass doors.

Heat up 1 cup of white vinegar, mix in about 1/4 cup of Dawn Premium. Not the dollar store kind, because it is too thin. When mixed, pour into a spray bottle and fill with water. Shake. Spray down Oh you only have to heat the vinegar one time when you add the Dawn.. If your glass is not too bad go to the dollar store and get some cheap shampoo. Smear it on let it sit about 2 minutes then use a scrubbie and rinse.
