How to clean top loading washer?

I found when I had my top loading washing machine that using 1/4 cup of white vinegar instead of liquid fabric softener worked great against static with the added benefit of cleaning the machine every load!

Hi at, I'm also a continual user of white vinegar for many cleaning jobs in my home. I use it instead of fabric softener and often when doing a load of towels, I use a washcloth soaked with venegar to clean around the top portion of my washer, then through it in with the towels to launder. I sometimes take a quick swipe at the gasket on the dryer door as well before tossing the cloth into the washer.

Run a load substituting vinegar for the detergent and no clothes.

I put white vinegar in the laundry cup the bleach cup and where fabric softener goes then add one cup of vinegar to the tub and wash on hot water and it will clean it up nicely I do it about every other month but if you do a lot of laundry you can do it monthly

When I had my new machine delivered, the guys told me to run it on the cleaning cycle with a cup of bleach once a quarter. You can use a cleaner like Afresh, which was what the manufacturer recommended. Then run an empty cycle. Hot water on both.
