Should I trim ?
This must have been a "bonus" . I think it is a hellebore . I would like to cut the long stems with only leaves at the end. Any harm in doing that ? Then replant in a spot-- not under a hydrangea where I found it .

Hi Vickie, The best time for pruning a hellebore plant is late winter or early spring, just as soon as the new growth begins to appear. This new growth should come straight up out of the ground as little stalks. These stalks should still be surrounded by a ring of last year's big leaves.

Hello. Great question. Here’s some information will help you with your propagation technique.

Everything I know about them indicates they should be transplanted in the fall. So you might want to wait to move it.
Lucky you! Those hellebore plants are expensive, both at the garden center and by mail-order. They like good, moist soil in shade, to aid in your relocating it.
This link will help you with propagating your plant:
Propagating Hellebore
Hellebores can be propagated by division. The best time to divide is in early spring before they flower. It is easiest to dig the entire plant and shake or wash off the soil so you can see where the buds are on the crown. Make sure each division has at least two buds. (Helleborus foetidus and Helleborus argutifolius do not divide well and are best started from seed.)
Most varieties will reseed, but if hybrids may produce seeds that don't "come true" to the parent plant. Seeds may produce plants that resemble one of the parent species, not the hybrid. You can move the seedlings to another location in the garden once they are large enough to handle and have developed true leaves

I would certainly move the seedlings to another location in the garden, but would not remove any of the leaves until they are established in the new location.
Hi Vikki, if it's Spring on your side of the world now's a good time to trim your Hellebore. I use a great app called iNaturalist to identify plants I’m unsure of. It’s free for both Apple and Android.
