Easy Clothespin Bag DIY
Do you like to line dry your laundry? If you do then you know that a clothespin bag, especially a cute one, is almost a necessity.
Once the air gets warmer and the days longer, I head outside to hang laundry on a clothesline snugly tied between two trees in my backyard. It’s one of my favorite homemaking tasks and one that I look forward to doing every spring, summer, and even into the early fall.
For the longest time, I had so-so clothespin bags. Nothing cute, just basic, but this year I decided to add some pizazz to a ready-made canvas clothespin bag. I wanted to use a canvas bag for durability and I purchased this one from Amazon but you can find similar bags at other stores as well.
Supplies:
Canvas Clothespin Bag
Red Cricut Iron-On Vinyl or color of choice
Cricut Explore Air or Other Cricut Machine
Iron
Pressing Pad and Ironing Cloth
After you gather your supplies, you’ll want to prepare your design for cutting.
In the Cricut Design Space choose a bird to “hold” the clothesline. I chose a basic bird with no 3D effects. I added one to a new project, then duplicated him and flipped him.
I added the word “clothespin” and curved it. You can see the details of the font, the size, and the curve degree in the picture above.
Once I had everything created, I proceeded to cut the iron-on vinyl.
Be sure to choose the mirror image option and place the vinyl shiny side down on the mat.
Iron the clothespin bag so that you have a smooth surface to apply your iron on to.
Apply iron on following the directions on the vinyl label. Do the Clothespins layer first.
Then add the birds.
Once everything was ironed in place and had cooled off, I added a ribbon around the hanger portion and filled my clothespin bag with clothespins.
