With our new home build, I wanted to design and install the pantry I've always wanted plus to continue my industrial farmhouse vibe. It also saved us some $$!

This is the finished pantry. I bought a metal drawer unit that I then removed the top and the casters. I used it to help hold the countertop. Brackets were probably the most expensive part of this install - I ordered hand forged brackets from an Etsy shop.

Close-up of the hardware and shelving. I love the look of Weck jars and are using them as much as I can!

This is the countertop. We mounted the supports (1x4) to a 1x4 back. This support was then screwed into studs. The countertop was then nailed to the supports along the back and side edges. I cut the top from 3/4" finished plywood - it is one continuous piece. It was fun times fitting it along the back wall as the corner was definitely not square. But we made it work.

Leveling up the support bracket before screwing into the stud. Doing it this way ensured a level countertop all the way around as it was one continuous piece. I painted the support bracket the wall color so that it "disappeared". The 1x2 facing was nailed to the front edge and ends of the supports.

We used painter's tape to mark where we wanted the shelves placed. We wanted room for a small microwave. Also, I measured my tallest jar that I wanted to use to be sure I had room for all the jars on one shelf.

Installing the shelves. Using the Etsy ordered brackets, we mounted the shelves. The brackets are screwed into studs. I used 1x10 white pine that I cut to length, stained and sealed. I stained the countertop and shelves with Minwax Dark Walnut and sealed with three coats of polycrylic.

YAASSS - it's done and we are still married! It did turn out just as I envisioned so I am very happy.

Not only useful, but also very attractive. Love the jars and that you were able to free counter space by relocating your microwave to the pantry
