  • Without seeing it, it's a little hard to tell you the best method. After removing the old shelves, you will need to have glass cut to the same size. Supports will also have to be installed for the glass.

    Hi Lori,

Do you have a picture of your tv stand you could share, without seeing what you are starting with it is near impossible to offer you good ideas?

Basically, if your shelves just lift out, then replace them with glass. If they are solidly in there, it wold involve cutting them out, making a support or installing brackets and setting glass shelves in the place of the wood.

Hello. Chalk painting is always a wonderful solution to paint wood furniture items. You will need to remove your glass shelving to achieve the best paint job. For some of the most beautiful projects that I have seen please visit my favorite bloggers chalk painted furniture Gallery. It might give you some creative inspiration.

From the link below -You will see an overwhelming library of her chalk painted projects as well as go to her YouTube channel to see the demonstrations of the chalk painting. Hope this helps.

Can you give us a little more information about your goals in doing this?

Would you like to make the stand into something else, or by 'redo' are you referring to refinishing so that it looks new again?

I have never seen any of these types of glass-shelved TV stands to be made from solid wood. It is most likely particle board.

You can paint it. Remove the glass shelves, if possible, or cover with newspaper and painter's tape. Then you are ready to clean with tsp, prime, and paint.
