Store closing sign and covid had inspired this built in in our office. Our family has been living in our home for the last 14 years and never had the need to use our office as intended for or what would show on a listing if you sell our house one day.

I saw a sign front of World Market and it said “store closing “ which means you can score a deal. I went in and I found 3 floating shelves and decided to buy it and later to figure out what we will use it for. That’s me,discount, buy it and later we will see what to use it for. My husband hates it but it is what it is.

Since covid started many people forced to work from home and also kids to learn virtual. Decided to convert our workout room to office and that’s how it started. Sat down to the sketching board and started brainstorming on what do we want and what we do not want.

Anyway, here are some pictures of our projects. Should’ve taken more pictures . This isn’t a weekend project ,neither on the cheap side but I am convinced we saved money and when we will decide to sell our house it will help the sale.

Enjoy it and if you have any questions please do not hold back.

So this is our drawing, how I wanted. I wanted most of the mess behind closed doors

Some of the wood already cut up and needs assembling

Just an example of our bottom cabinet and the measurements

one of the assembled shelf

This is the color we have used on our built in. It’s called Benjamin Moore Black Forest green.

So sick of grays so I wanted something different

Remember the drawing above? This is the cabinet being built

Getting ready for spray paint

After the spray paint. I wanted flat finish but they do not sale it in this particular color

The doors are waiting for spray painting, actually priming

This is the countertop I wanted. It is White Oak and in person it is absolutely gorgeous.

Little forward ahead, I though the shelves would be too dark so decided to use white oak front of the shelves to break the dark color and also to match the countertop

Another angle

Cabinet handles too a whole month to come in so it felt like forever

Finally came in

The assembly

4 drawer pulls are still missing but it shows the final product

These chairs have been waiting for the perfect room. Bought it for $50.00 about 8 years ago on Craigslist. They were made in CA, in the USA. Very rare these days

Thanks for the info Monika... Using this type of hinge does give you some adjustment fudge which is welcomed in a big project like yours... Also, great idea to hang the doors with wire for painting and drying. Thanks for posting... Now grab a beer and a chair and enjoy your success.

Beautiful job!, wish I had seen this before I started my project. Although, my project didn't turn out bad, but could have used some of your ideas. I'm also, a sketch-up user as well; any tips on it you may have?

Beautiful! Curious where you purchased the White Oak countertop? I'm needing a 12 ft desktop - and am trying not to break the bank! Thanks!
