Hi Luz the most common choice to take care of popcorn ceilings is to scrape it off. I did it in several bedrooms in an old house I owned. Spray it down with water first and then just scrape and scrape and scrape. It makes a mess - but it works and costs basically nothing. Here's a youtube how to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz0YjQyrkMY
If that's not sounding like something you want to do and you're willing to spend a bit more money you can always cover them up. Ceiling tiles that glue on have become really popular in recent years. I used them in one of my projects here on Hometalk covering up the ceilings of an entire little guest house. They simply glued right up to the ceiling and they were easy to cut with a pair of scissors and painted out just as easy. They are more expensive but if our time is worth anything...

Homax makes a scraper that will enable you to remove it better than anything else I have found. Saturate the ceiling and then scrape. After that, you can mud and sand any spots that need it and paint. Before you do anything, make sure you protect everything by draping plastic. Also, wear something to cover your hair and long pants & sleeves. The debris is messy and falls everywhere.
you can take down the popcorn ceiling which is a messy job but necessarily expensive here is how to do that

Hello. You might make the decision whether to physically remove the popcorn ceiling or cover it up. Covering it might be more costly but less labor-intensive and messy. As an alternative here’s a link about that for your consideration. Best wishes on your transformation project.

If you go to remove the popcorn ceiling, expect a mess.. It might be more expensive to cover the popcorn ceiling, but at least you'll have options.
A drop ceiling hung from a grid is one and so is drywall.
You might also consider putting up wood-such as wainscoting, laminate flooring, planks, particleboard, tin, etc

I've done mine. It is a messy project. I just sprayed with water and used a wide blade putty knife. Be gentle. Fill in the scrapes you made with fresh spackling and smooth with a wet rag or sand. Paint.
