I love midcentury modern furniture.

It’s very on trend right now.

Many fans of MCM furniture prefer it in its natural wood state so when I thrifted this one I knew I wanted to leave some wood elements and add some paint in a combo.

Before

I love color and layering and blending on furniture but I can also appreciate wood tones and a more sleek design as well.

For this project I used paints and supplies I had on hand.

I painted the entire base of the desk in a terra cotta and the top two drawers in a solid complimentary color.

On these drawer fronts I knew I wanted to incorporate some type of geometric design in with the wood.

I just sit the handles in place to keep their positioning in mind while I taped off design ideas.

I liked this pattern pictured and decided on four colors to paint these taped off areas.

These are the supplies I used for the design (a couple brushes aren’t pictured)

One brush for each different color of paint. I used two coats of each color letting them dry in between coats.

After two coats of paint

Once I removed the tape I took this Wise Owl furniture salve and salved the drawer. Look how it brought that dry wood back to life on those top drawers!

That wood grain is so good.

Tada!

A MCM desk with a sleek new design.

Beautiful! I love that you left the legs and cross support pieces the natural wood, the wood looks amazing after you salved it.
