Old teddy bear stuffing?
Hi - my daughter's teddy bear is very well loved. It has holes that need to be sewn and has lost its stuffing. The material is extremely thin. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to re-stuff it without opening the bear up. I was thinking to get a large size syringe and filling it with small stuffing pieces and putting it through one of the holes that needs to be sewn (the size of a pencil eraser). If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated. Thank you very much

I would think using a seam ripper to make a small hole would be the best bet for putting more stuffing inside then just sewing that small area up- it will take a long time to do it the way you described and the pulling and tugging could tear the material as well.
Thank you! I am so afraid of it ripping. The material is super thin.
On the seam, you could try a single edged razor blade (new and very sharp) or for a better grip a box cutter. There are many styles of them.
Hello. If you have a pair of tweezers I would suggest just trying that —sometimes even wicking and wrapping the stuffing around the tweezer tips will compress it down further. A good stuffing tool. Also using fishing hemostats could work too they can be found at Walmart ( fishing dept) perhaps harbor freight for a few dollars. Very useful to have around. This is how things happen in the surgical operating room with small incision holes or wound packings.
Additionally I have used a chopstick to help tightly stuffy my baby mobile handcafted creatures. I hope this helps!

How about a big crochet needle. One used for crocheting thick yarn. Hook stuffing on needle and push through hole?
Love Pat's idea.
Thank you for your great ideas. I just watched a youtube video from sizzix they have a stuffing tool. I think I will try. Cross your fingers for me.

Here is the Sizzex tool that Mary was referring to, and a couple more stuffing tools, Clover and Hemline brands.
You can poke it in the small holes and use a chopstick to push it in

I would use pillow stuffing
If you do end up with a tear, you can use fusible web to seal the area. No stitching necessary. Just pull one piece of the fabric over the other with the web in between and iron.
