Headboard Accent Wall

Before...

Large empty wall totally lacking character. I had just moved the bed away to make room to add some "old world soul"

Cost of this project was approximately $45 for stencils (that i can use again!) and $30 for paint (that I have lots extra... even though I purchased small sample pots)

You can use stencils and craft paint from the dollar store for lower cost options/different looks.

Taped an area that would fit our Queen size headboard and nightstands, and distressed the wall using 4 colours* over the base coat (Pashmina by Benjamin Moore)

Randomly Sponged, dabbed, and rubbed on and off... sprayed water for some dripping texture...

(* I used two different colours lighter than my base colours, one that was darker, and a teal blue for patina look. Sorry, can't find the paint chips for the colour names - but they were all Benjamin Moore as well - purchased in small sample pots.)

One large, dark medallion stencil centered for focal point over the headboard

(craft paint for the medallion "Espresso" from a local dollar store)

Multiple paint colours on one mini roller for the smaller stencil to help give that aged and patina look.

** TIP: your roller will start to blend all the colours together... if you want variegated colours throughout you may have to was your roller a few times throughout the process... or use separate rollers for each colour

I chose one roller and allowed it to blend because I wanted less variation and definition toward the middle of the wall so the large stencil would pop.

Stencils were from Michael's.

Wash them when you are done so you can use them over again!

Placement of the stencils is approximate- to give that "perfectly imperfect" look

The great thing about this "old world" style is you don't to be perfect!

After....

So pleased with the feeling in this space

It totally anchors the bed and defines the space with the old world soul.
