How to eliminate brush strokes in DB chalk paint?

Hello sometimes I feel the second coat and a little bit water dilution will often smooth things out nicely.

Hi Robin, second coat usually removes brush strokes but, in the event I'm very worried about it, a little hand sanding with fine grit sand paper between coats will help remove brush strokes.

You might consider using a sponge applicatior for painting.

It is paint so unfortunately brush strokes are still likely come with that. Can you run it through a sprayer?

Hello, put a second coat on and the brush stroke will look less conspicuous. If that does not work, try a very light sanding with a fine grit sandpaper and repaint.

If you are using chalk paint you have to make sure that you don't paint like you would with a regular paint--meaning that you don't move your brush back and forth--you try to paint in one direction with one long stroke. One first coat of chalk paint will look terrible but when you add your second coat it starts to look better. Also--chalk paint is supposed to be sanded down before you put any final finish on it--that will remove most of the brush marks and give you a smoother finish. You can add a third coat if you want more coverage and then sand again. A damp brush will also help--damp--not dripping wet. If you are using a dark wax over a clear wax whatever is left of brush marks picks up the dark wax and that is what gives you the aged appearance.

Water should help, but I've found applying 2 coats of chalk paint and then sanding with a fine grit sandpaper takes away the brush marks.

Using a foam applicator will help a lot. Also slightly thinning the paint with water will help.
