If you don't have a fancy cricut or vinyl cutting machine and you don't want to waste time waiting on that friend to make them for you. You can hand paint your own in no time at all and no calligraphy skills are required.

I recently remodeled my pantry and have always used big jars to store my sugar and different kinds of flour. Although, I knew what was in each jar, it was a little harder for anyone to figure out and distinguish between Bread Flour and All Purpose Flour. You do not need a lot of supplies for this simple project:

  1. Print out your font and size on regular computer paper
  2. Scotch tape
  3. Fine tip Sharpie
  4. Sharpie Paint pen (any color)

I cut out each label at a time and taped it on the inside of the jar. I used Felix Titling in 80 font for my jars.

Use your fine tip Sharpie and start tracing on the outside of your jar. It does make your vision go a little wonky because the thickness of the glass and tracing over the paper played some tricks on my eyes!

Once you outline with the Sharpie - go ahead and remove the label on the inside.

(If you are wondering what "Kamut" is...it is a type of flour I buy from an Instagrammer in Utah I know, The Food Nanny. She will sell you on it if you look her up.)

Go over your Sharpie with a paint marker. Mine said it works on glass and a multitude of other finishes.

This is the brand of Sharpie Paint marker I picked up from Walmart. They come in different colors.

Took me maybe half an hour to label 4 jars. No way I could free hand this! Having the paper on the inside as a template really helped. If you are artistic - you could free hand this and even do some fun designs on these plain jars with different paint markers.

It is not as crisp as a label maker but they turned out pretty well, if you ask me!

Your labels look great! I love your canisters and have been looking for some like them. Would you mind sharing where you got them from?

These look really nice but did you make a mistake in the cost? You have $5000! But an idea I will try for about $20. Cost of jars and markers.
