Did you know you can create cute decor out of an old couch foot?

Take a look at this tutorial to find out how.

Candlestick, succulent, and teal vase

We recently disposed of the old couch we purchased when we first were married. It was saggy and outdated.

However, before we tossed it, I snagged the feet off of the bottom. There was something fun about the shape and I knew I could make a cute farmhouse candlestick out of it.

Here is the process I used:

Sanding couch foot

Step 1: Prep the foot

I removed any bolts and stickers. I then sanded the finish on the couch foot lightly to give my paint something to adhere to.

Painting couch foot white with paint brush

Step 2: Paint

I used white acrylic flat craft paint and painted several coats onto the foot, letting them dry in between.

Hand distressing paint with sand paper

Step 3: Sand

I then came back in with 80 grit sand paper and sanded off a few areas of paint, letting the brown stain of the couch foot peek through the white.

And that is it.

I love how simple this project was.

Plus I kept the couch foot out of a landfill. Win-win.
