Easy & HUGE Succulent Centerpiece
Using things I already had on hand, I was able to create this beautiful centerpiece in less than 10 minutes!
I started with this extra large wood salad bow l from Arthur Court Designs. Isn't it beautiful? You could use this for so many things!
Next, I placed a thick layer of green sheet moss into the bowl. I buy a box of this every year from Amazon, and keep it on hand for plants in the garden, as well as other projects. I just love it! Tip: If you don't have a lot of moss, you can first layer crumpled up paper bags, then top those with moss.
I also have a variety of faux succulents that I keep on hand. I chose my largest ones and put them close to the center of the bowl. I simply poked the stem through the moss, which holds them in place.
Next, I placed some smaller succulents around the edges:
After that, I tucked bits of gray Spanish moss into the areas between the succulents. This fills in the space and adds texture.
See how full it already looks, with only a few succulents? This bowl is HUGE, so the layers of different moss really help! I also added some bright green reindeer moss. You should be able to find all of these mosses online or at your local craft store.
After that, I added some cuttings from succulents in my yard. Succulents are so hardy that they will last in an arrangement like this, with no water, for at least a week. You can always mist them to keep them in the arrangement longer, if you want. And the best thing? When you pull them back out of the arrangement, you can just tuck them in the dirt again!
Lastly, I added some fern clippings. We have these growing wild on our forest property. These dry up in about a day (they are a pretty hardy fern), but you could always use faux fern fronds if you want.
I even made some mini arrangements in these little copper mugs, with the leftovers:
I had a lot of fun using this in the center of my table, along with our oil lamps (filled with citronella oil for the mosquitos) and a few copper pieces.

PS - I am estimating the cost of this project at $0 because I had everything on hand, but you may need to purchase items.

I agree with your previous commenters! This is a lovely Idea. I would never have thought to use artificial plants along with live ones. But I can see doing this with all live plants as well! I am giving that a try! I had a pretty bird bath that I was working to repair and my husband tossed the pedestal not realizing what it was. SO instead of a birdbath, I created succulent garden in it. As it turned out beautiful (It took about a year for it to fill out to its current look, but it is infinitely better than it was as bird bath! : )
