I just love summer and all the things that come along with it, especially all the fun patriotic decor everywhere. I love decorating patriotic , I also like that you can use Patriotic decor all summer. It is so versatile. I am currently making stuff for my tier tray, and I wanted a little Uncle Sam hat to go in it. I couldn’t find any that I like, so the next best thing is to make your own! So join me in making a DIY Uncle Sam hat!

Supplies:

Scrapbook Paper- Hobby Lobby

Small Piece Scrap Wood- I had this on hand, mine is about 4×4 inches. You can choose any size you have on hand.

Large Craft Stick- Hobby Lobby

Small Wooden Star- Hobby Lobby

Brown Wax – Hobby Lobby

Acrylic Paint -White

Mod Podge

Glue Gun

Start by cutting down your craft stick, you want to cut this a little wide than your block of wood. Once you have that cut stain the craft stick and the block of wood with your brown wax. I stained it all except the front of my block of wood, we are going to cover that up.

Once the stain dries, line up you pieces on your scrapbook paper and cut it out. Using your Mod Podge apply the paper to your craft stick and wooden block. I used red and white stripe on the block of wood and the stars on the brim.

Sand down the edges of the paper and give it a bit of a rustic look. Here I also painted my small star white.

It is now time to make it look really rustic! Take your brown wax and rub it all over your hat with a rag or baby wipe, make sure to wipe off the excess. Once you have it all stained, you can start gluing it together. Glue you brim to the bottom, and the star to the top left or right it is up to you. All Done!!

How adorable is this!? I LOVE IT!! Super cute and easy! I love the rustic and primitive look of it!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY Uncle Sam Hat, I really had fun making it!
