Deck for kiddie pool?
We got a 2' deep kiddie pool for the grandkids and I want to build a deck or something to stop grass clippings getting into it. Any ideas?

We actually kept a basin for the kids to rinse their feet in before stepping into the pool. We just had pavers instead of a deck. Since it's so small, maybe a patio instead of a deck?
you can buy pavers or even flat cement pieces to put the pool on to keep grass and other debris out of but when not in use you need to drain it to keep down mosquitoes, etc.
Since is not permanent, I would put a basin of water by the pool for them to rinse their feet.
You can build one cheaply using pallets. Or you can add a small flat bucket of water next to the pool so the kids can rinse their feet
Pavers might be a good solution or a slightly raised platform made of treated wood. Is it that they're coming in off the kids or blowing in from the yard?
If you want a more permanent solution you could put down pea gravel. Just pick out some 2x4's and fill in with the gravel. That would provide a grass free area around the kiddie pool and provide a flat surface for the pool to sit on also.
A mini pool to rinse off their feet would work, put a small tarp under the mini pool. This would work best if there was just 1 area to access the pool.

Hello Gerald,
Lay a Tarpaulin or a shower curtain on the ground and fix it down. Keep a pile of towels along side .
Here is a mini deck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlo7qoBj4xI
I can see kids jumping off the 2’ deck into the pool and that’s a double-trouble problem.
Also, by Code a 2’ deck is supposed to have a guardrail and a handrail on the steps- so that gets ridiculously expensive.
If you decide to do it anyway, pallet wood will need to be sanded down for bare feet.
Conventional lumber prices have tripled in the past year.
Hi Gerald, it says dog, but it will work great for kids too!

Put a small shallow wading pool outside or before the kids get into or after they get out of the 2 foot pool. That will allow you to get the grass off their feet before either getting into the pool or bringing the grass into the house.
