Color Block Wall
Color blocking is THE trend for those daring enough to paint shapes on their walls. Intimidating? Absolutely. But it doesn't have to look like a 90's printed shirt. Color blocking combines a fun element while also elevating the sophistication of any space. The biggest trend in color blocking is dome or circular shapes and I decided to give this decor a shot!
And what better place for a trial than on my brand new entry wall😜
This is my "before" shot. Simple, but a little bland. I didnt want to crowd the shelf and loved the mirror so wanted to enhance that focal point.
To keep it even all the way around I first measured 3 inches from the mirror all the way around and connecting the measurements with a pencil.
*Definitely use a pencil NOT A PEN OR MARKER. Marker tends to bleed through the paint and pen can't be erased.
At the midway point of my mirror I used a level to mark a straight line down to my board and batton.
This created the dome shape rather than a circle, connecting the entire wall rather than encasing the mirror in a circle.
After mixing my paint color I just used my kindergarten skills to color in the lines! My paintbrush had angled bristles which helped to keep the lines clean around the edges. You could also use a smaller brush to fill in the space near the marked lines.
The end result was pretty great! I loved the effect of the color blocking and ease with which it was created.
