Did you know that you can turn some placemats into pillows?

All you need to look for is a placemat that has 2 layers of fabric and you can create a fun and cheap pillow for your home.

Blue and teal placemat pillows

Here's what you need:

  • A 2-layered placemat
  • A seam ripper
  • Pins
  • Polyfil
  • Needle & Thread or Double sided fabric tape
Seam ripper ripping seams on placemat

Step 1: Rip open enough of the seam to allow for you to put stuffing inside.

Step 2: Stuff polyfil into the placemat until it is full enough to be a pillow. Make sure to stuff the polyfil all of the way into each of the four corners.

Step 3: Pin the opening of the placemat together with pins and then sew it with a needle and thread.

Or use double sided fabric tape to close up the seam for a no sew option.

And that is it.

It was such an easy project and yet it makes a beautiful statement.

I used these pillows in my remodeled Master bedroom.

They were so simple and super cheap.
