Add a slice of sweet to your decor with Summer Fruit Cross Stitch Coasters

One of the best things about summer is all the fresh fruit. Celebrate your favorite fruits by stitching up some fruity summer coasters. Entertaining never looked so sweet!

Cross Stitch Coasters

Supplies

  • Cork coasters
  • Embroidery floss
  • Needle
  • Thimble
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Scissors

Cork coasters don’t have any kind of grid on them conducive to cross-stitching, so you will need to create one.

First make a template for your grid. Then place the template on top of each of the cork coasters. Make dots to draw your grid on the coaster.

Now it is time for the stitching. In addition to a needle and embroidery floss I also used a thimble and a pair of needle nosed pliers. The pliers and thimble will help protect your fingers and keep them from getting sore as you cross-stitch through the thicker cork material.

I made a set of four different fruits: apple, pineapple, orange, and watermelon. Create an entire set of just one fruit or mix and match like I did. These would make great hostess gifts for a summer get together.

Really cute idea, but i would finish them off like Cheryl suggested.

Julie, I do love the idea, I am going to make it into a craft for my Kidz Church doing either easy pictures that are biblical or even words that are biblical. I think they will have a lot of fun with these. They can give them as gifts or use them themselves.
