Make Your Own LED Wall Sign

Check this out!! I saw this sun light from Pottery Barn that I thought would be perfect for my daughters room but I wasn’t about to drop $150 on one. Naturally, I thought “I can make that”. For just $20 I built my own!

The inspiration photo

I taped off an area above my daughter’s bed to get an idea of sizing.

I ripped a 1x2 primed board in half to create some thinner pieces of wood.

Then cut those pieces to the desired length with my miter saw.

The hardest part was cutting the semi circle part. I used the lid of a bucket to trace an outline on some spare plywood and then cut it out with my jigsaw.

My daughter gave it a fresh coat of paint.

I assembled the pieces using my brad nailer and some wood glue

Next, I attached some LED strip lights to the outside and insides. These are color changing and come with a remote and phone app!

For the lights that ran down the wall to the plug I covered in electrical tape and then painted the same color of the wall to make my wall light look like it stood alone.

How cute did it turn out??

Very fun. Best part you painted cord. I would have never thought of that but that’s the finishing detail that elevates entire piece. Nice job. Thanks for sharing, esp great cord tip
