Today I want to share with you how I made this easy DIY Watch box using no power tools.

My husband has somehow collected a ton of watches over the years. For Father’s Day this year, we decided to try our hand at making a cute DIY Watch box for him to store all of the watches he has.

I wanted something simple that didn’t require power tools so I set out to see what we could make. Watch boxes are pretty simple when you think about it. All you really need is a box, dividers, and some sort of pillow to hold the watches.

See how easy it was to make this.

DIY Watch Box – Step 1

The first thing you need to do is figure out what box you want to use. I had recently found this old cigar box at the thrift store that would be perfect for this project! Depending on how many watches you want to fit into your display case, you can get a smaller or larger size.

You can find empty cigar boxes on Amazon or just go with a craft wood box as well.

Step 2 – Paint or Stain Box (Optional)

Once you have your box picked out, now it’s time to paint or stain it. You can also get super creative here! Whether it’s artwork, a message, or handprints, there is no limit to how you can decorate your DIY watch box.

I chose to keep it simple and spray paint it with charcoal chalk paint. First, I taped off all the hardware and then simply gave it two coats of spray paint.

Step 3 – Watch Case Dividers

For this DIY watch box, I was able to fit eight watches. I ended up cutting out cardboard to use as dividers. After I measured and cut them, I spray painted them the same charcoal color.

I probably could have done a better job with the dividers. They didn’t turn out the greatest. In retrospect, I probably would have used these adjustable dividers.

Step 4 – Watch Pillows

I thought about making my own watch pillows but decided instead to just order these watch pillow cushions instead. They worked perfectly for this project and saved me the hassle of making them.

Step 5 – Personalize (Optional)

Since this DIY watch box was for Father’s Day, I wanted to add a picture to the inside. I went with a black and white photo of my husband and kids on a previous father’s day.

I ripped to edges to give it a more vintage look, and then applied it to the inside of the box with Mod Podge.

Final Step – Add Watches

Once everything was complete, the only thing left to do was add the watches. There you have it! An easy DIY Watch Box that you can make without using any power tools whatsoever.

It is a great useful gift, my hubs has several watches as well including watches he inherited from his father, they just seem to multiply throughout the years. Thanks for the share.
