I've always wanted a bench in my dining room I couldn't believe it when I came across one on a selling site (Facebook market place. The seller was selling a table with the bench which I didn't need so I made an offer for the bench the seller accepted £40!

Facebook market place bench

my husband went straight over to collect it.

It was bigger then we expected which was a nice surprise and

the seat lifted off exposing a large storage area for the kids to store their arts and crafts.

Wash sand and Prime

After thinking about it we decided to paint the bench

It had been well looked after but also showed some wear in places.

I washed the bench down and gave it a light sand. We had some primer in the shed, the kids got involved and we started to paint.

Before and after

I then used dove grey furniture paint leaving two hours between coats. I did two coats and this was the transformations.

Stunning right?

Table and chairs

I sanded down our table and chairs then painted them to match the bench.

Finishing off

Bringing it all together we had a dining set just in time for Christmas.

This was the easiest and cheapest project anyone can do. Sand paper and paint is all that is really needed.
