I clean my box fans and upright fans each summer. I first unscrew the grate cover on the front side (put the screws in a cup so you don't lose them. Then I run the cover grate in the kitchen sink using a dish brush to clean it. Then I use wet wipes and a bit of Dollar Tree Awesome Orange to clean the fan blades. Screw cover back on, and your good to go.
Hello. Fans do you collect lots of dusty crusty residues. Opening them up and carefully cleaning them seems to be a worthwhile adventure.

I haven't used fans in a long time, but I used to unplug them, then unscrew the metal frame, use vinegar and water on a rag to scrub the blades and wash the wire frame. Then I put it all back together again.

Swiffer duster
Hi! If it's a fan you use for cooling, unplug it and then take the protective grills off. Some unscrew and some just pop off. I use my hand vacuum and microfiber cloths to get the inside nice and clean.
If the fan is an electric plug-in type:
Liquid dishwasher soap and hot water work well on removing greasy dust that has gunked on to plastic fan grills. Remove the grills first to avoid getting any water near the fan motor.
Air compressor
Microfiber duster that is bendable should do the trick.
What kind of fan are you looking to clean? A ceiling fan, portable fan, bath fan or another type? Generally dusting them or vacuuming the dust off gets most of it, then wiping with a damp rag gets most the rest.
Are you looking to clean a ceiling fan or rotating fan? A ceiling fan can be cleaned with windex. The rotating fan you need to take off the cover then you can spray and clean.
Take the cage off and the clips on the sides open then they slide up next there is a round screw cap on the front of the blade unscrew it counter clock wise off then pull blade off then unscrew the round ring holding the back cage on then the back comes off
For ceiling fans use a pillow case, put over a blade and pull off gently. Dust stays inside case.
