There are services online that will help you track down information and appraise it for you, but they can be pricey. Sometimes if you take a photo of the chest from the front and upload it to Google and do a reverse image search, you can find the item. Hope that helps!

Take lots of photos inside and out, especially of any markings you see and contact an appraiser if the markings you find don't turn up any info searching the internet.
