I thought this vintage scruffy wooden table could be rescued from the roadside where it’s dumped for rubbish collection into something beautiful and decide take on the project of transformation.

Old table

I love mosaic and wanted to use ups some old tiles left over from another project and set about thinking of a design.

to help the process and give a good surface to stick tiles I cover the table top in white photo copy paper.

Cover in paper

PVA glue is pasted along the edge and I begin sticking down the tiles arranging them with small gaps for grouting later.

Tiled edge

I like to alternate colours and this table is blue and green and white . I use vitreous glass mosaic tiles in 10 mm and 20 mmm and no need to cut as they can be used just as they are.

Tiling
Ready to grout

The next step is grouting and I use a mix of white powdered grout mixed with black grout powder dye mix with water to me with paste.

Then it’s spreading it slowly in to all gaps and work into edges

Grouting the table

It’s then wiping all excess grout away with wet wipes or cloth to reveal the lovely tiles.

Clean excess grout off

And I’m so pleased with the result. Total makeover and project rescue success.

Why was the typing paper used? Was it glued to the table?

Can this be out in the weather? I would like to try this with a table, but it would be for a patio that gets sun and rain.
