I love transforming old furniture. I also love Alice in Wonderland. With some paint and super cute transfers I'm able to combine my love for both!

I just love how this little side table turned out!!

My aunt gave me a bunch of her old furniture and when I first saw this clover shaped table I immediately thought of Alice in Wonderland because of all the card suits. I started by cleaning and lightly sanding the entire table.

Next, I flipped it upside down and spray painted the feet gold. Since I would be painting the rest of the table by hand with a brush, it would be easy to cover up any over spray from the gold.

I painted the table in two coats of Cowgirl Coral from the DIY paint line. I adore this color so much and think it will make a great background for my transfers.

I cut out several different pieces and played with the placement until I was happy with how it looked. I used the wooden transfer tool that comes with them to "scrape" and apply the transfers.

Time to add a few more!

My original plan was to lightly distress the table, seal it, and be done. But I just wasn't completely happy with how it looked. I had a lot of visible brush strokes and the paint was kind of uneven after I sealed it. So, I decided to do something I've never done before and distress it a LOT more while also distressing, or sanding, over the transfers themselves. I was nervous that they would rip or start pealing up but they didn't! I was left with more blended edges and the colors in the pictures were toned down a bit. I really like this look!

After all of the distressing I thought it could use some more gold so I brushed some gold around the edges and a little bit over the transfers as well.

That wasn't enough so I grabbed my trusty gold spray paint and went to town! I used light "bursts" of spray paint and built up layers slowly until I was happy with the look. If you accidentally spray too much, you can always allow that section to dry completely and sand it down until you're happy.

Gold makes (almost) everything better! 😂

Your right it is a cute table and I see your vision and several others in my mind; makes it rather versatile to me. and yes gold can easily elevate a look but don’t forget silver can too. Thanks for sharing
