Creating A Cozy Toddler Bedroom With DIY Trim, Baseboards, & Bead-board
The very first room renovation of our farmhouse fixer upper is now complete!
Eli’s toddler bedroom makeover was a huge task to take on but we did it in record time y’all!
The goal was to make the space livable for him & come back to add the fun details, decor, & built-ins for the closet later.
We have so many projects to take on just to make the house functional for us, so the fun stuff has to wait… just for a little while I promise!
Here’s what we are working with:
It definitely needed a little TLC & if you were here for Eli’s nursery renovation you know this will not be up to his standards 😉

Makeover:
Our first step is to remove all the molding & baseboards. Since we are replacing everything with chunkier new wood we didn’t have to be super careful which made it go quickly!
Next we ripped out all the carpet & painted the beadboard Rosemary by Sherwin Williams & the upper half of the walls SW Alabaster. If you are replacing flooring I definitely recommend painting before the new flooring goes in. Especially if you are messy like me!
Once the painting portion was complete we moved onto installing the underlayment & LVP flooring. Laminate is always a winner in our house because we have dogs & it is super durable! We went with Pergo Hickory flooring.
Once the flooring was in, we moved onto framing in the doorways & windows. I love to use 1×4 & 1×6 pine boards because they make them look grand on a budget.

I always like to add big chunky baseboards to my room renovations too! 1×6 boards are perfect for the farmhouse look.
We did remove Eli’s closet door because I plan on adding sliding barn doors for that space & for his bathroom.
Normally I am not a huge fan of green even though it’s Adam’s favorite color, but this green is so soothing & cozy so we added it to all the trim too!
Finally, we installed a new Hunter fan to complete the room’s transformation!
His room is not quite complete, I still have a few items on the To Do list but it’s a great start! This is a super cozy space all his own now & one he can grow into too.
