DIY Paper Doilie Garland

A couple months ago, I found a box of paper doilies at the thrift store. For $4.99, I figured why not buy it! I mean, I figured I would eventually find use for them.

The other day I decided to create a pretty paper garland using them! This project is a little time consuming due to folding each doilie. Though true, it's extremely easy and pretty!

The cost of this project is based on what I paid for vs what I had on hand.

For this easy project, I used paper doilies, twine, a hole puncher, and scissors

After cutting my twine to the length I needed, I started folding my paper doilies for the garland.

I folded each doilie in half, then folded them like you would a paper fan.

You will need quite a few, depending on the length and desired thickness of your garland. I would suggest getting comfortable and putting on a movie while folding! Lol

After I folded my doilies, I hole punched each one to string them on the twine.

I didn't use any particular form while stringing the doilies onto the twine. I just added them, and rotated them, if wanted after the fact.

This is what my garland looked like after stringing all the folded doilies on.

After my garland was done, I decided to add some wooden beads to each end. I would highly suggest adding something with a little weight to each end. It helps hold the garland on your mantle (or wherever you choose to place it.)

I double knotted each end to ensure the beads would stay on.

After adding my beads, this is what my finishes garland looked like.

I really love how pretty the garland looks on my mantle!!

The perfect addition!

This is beautiful! It wouldn't be as pretty but I was thinking you could do the same thing with coffee filters. What do you think? ❤️

I was thinking the same thing except u could add glitter on the ends, paint or get colored ones and mix them for a festive look. U could also put beads etc in between them. It all depends on how and what u r decorating. It could be a fun family project with the kids!

Lovely mantle. Great project. Something I could do with the kids. I’m also thinking that they could be made smaller and tied together to make leis for a Hawaiian themed party. Thanks for sharing.
