Last week, I built this desk for my husband to work comfortably from home. As an addon to his work space, I will be building a wall mounted organizer to hold the stationery and keep the desk clutter free. You know, having a wall mounted stationery holder is a great space saver. It clears up most of your table-top work space and looks really neat! If you are looking for such stationery wall organizer, you can try this DIY project.

DIY – Wall Mounted Stationery Organizer

I am making this organizer as two different pieces. One to hold notepads and other to hold the pen, pencil, markers and a small shelf for miscellaneous items. Mark and cut the wood. I am using Aspen 1 x 4s as that is all I had as scrap. But if you have 1/2″ x 4″, then you should use it instead. The product will look less bulkier.

TEST FIT

First, I sanded and painted the wood and the aluminum can in the color I want. Once paint is dry, its time to assemble the pieces.

Shelf organizer: Pre drill and fix the shelf with 1-1/4″ screws. On the rear, install the saw tooth hanger and  felt bumpers. To personalize, I added faux leather around the painted can and glued it to the organizer. You could use hot glue or E6000.

Notepad organizer: Use wood glue to assemble all the pieces as shown in test fit above. Finally, add saw tooth hanger and bumpers on rear side of the organizer. Personalize it however you like.

For hanging the organizers, I am using T- pins. Its a good renter friendly solution if you do not want to go through the mess of sealing the screw holes when moving out.

I think it’s a great project and if I had a need for a stationery organizer I would use it. The word is stationery with an e not an a. Stationery with an e is the paper and such, stationary with an a means not mobile, which I suppose is technically correct but not really the word I think you intended to use.

Thank you Preethi. I proofread without even trying to and errors just bug me. As I said, it’s a fantastic project, and most people probably don’t even know the difference between the two words.
