I had been experimenting with a hot glue gun at what I could do and thinking I could use it like a 3D pen to create some unique designs. I just needed to think about what I could use as a surface to stop the glue from sticking and I thought baking paper! So I gave it ago and it worked. Here’s my step by step so everyone can create loads of nice designs using this technique. I hope everyone enjoys reading.

First grab some baking paper to draw your design on. You can get this anywhere.

Here’s my simple design I did first. I drew something simple to try my technique out invade it didn’t turn out right. I used a marker pen so I could easily see it through the glue.

I then worked my way from the middle going outwards. The key is to make sure all your lines connect with each other and keep the Lines thick to avoid the piece breaking easily.

Next leave the design to dry. This shouldn’t take long to harden. You can see I made another design along with it. The possibilities are endless what you can create and all the different designs you could come up with.

When the design is dry lift it up off the paper slowly and carefully. The piece shouldn’t break as long as you have made sure to connect all the lines together.

I used this spray paint to make my design look like it’s made out of gold. This is my favourite spray paint brand.

Finished!

Heres my after photo of my gold design. I love how it turned out. It really looks something special and delicate.

Heres my other design that I decided to spray paint rose gold and it looks beautiful. Just shows you could make placemats and all sorts of things from just hot glue. If you like what you see be sure to check out my other posts and Instagram for more unique diys

Very pretty ! I always use parchment paper under my glue gun because the glue does not stick. Never thought of making designs though. Great idea! Can’t wait to make something !

    • please share with us what you make 😁 I have a new post of a jewellery dish I made using a hot glue gun. See if that can give you any design ideas

I will definitely try this. I already have everything but the parchment paper (I may try other paper). I have made crowns from cellophane using glue to outline the shapes.
