DIY Twine Holder

Ok so this is an easy project and may not have that WOW factor, however, it’s functional and super cute! And I don’t mind it on my counter!!

I use jute for so many things. Drying herbs, tying back veggies in the garden, gift wrapping, floral arrangements….

I started out with a piece of scrap wood that I measured and cut to a 4 x 4 square.

I found the center and marked it. This is where you will drill your hole to slide your dowel in. I started with a smaller drill bit than my dowel because I didn’t want the hole too large.

You want your dowel to fit snuggly but still easy enough to pull out when you need to remove or change your spool of string.

I cut the dowel length so that it was a about an inch longer than the spool of twine. You have to take into consideration the bottom of the dowel going into the hole in the base of the holder and a small amount to stick up out of the spool.

I then used a pretty cabinet pull for the top of the dowel. I glued them together using gorilla glue.

I had these old wooden beads lying around so I though they would make nice little feet for my stand.

I glued these to the under side of the base.

When the feet were dry I screwed them in as well.

I painted the base. When dry I put the spool on and slid the dowel in until it fit snug in the hole of the base. That’s it!!

I love when functional things can be pretty too!!😊

This is a neat & Useful Idea. My first thought is you find so many discarged Troph's in various thrift stores. Usually they are not very expensive & would make a neat base I would make the connection to the base permanent & then Use a screw to put the top on so that it can be removed to change the twine! : ) It is a very Pretty top!

Now I know what to do with all my son’s baseball trophies he left behind when he moved out of the nest!

This could also be made longer as a paper towel holder 🤷‍♀️
