How to stencil my front porch?

I just saw one at someone's house and she painted it to look like black and white tiles but stenciling is much softer and more personal I think

You can clean it first, make sure you use an etching cleaner. Then you can stencil. If possible, I would use stain instead of paint. It will last longer and no peeling. Whichever way you go, make sure you seal it.

Hi Sharon, if you clean the concrete well, there's no need to paint first unless you want a different base color the the grey of the concrete. Just be sure to plan and measure out your design before you start. Here's a nice video that will show you the process. My daughter stencilled her large patio and it looks wonderful! The only thing she said she'd do differently is to use a larger design stencil (which would have cost more).

We painted our concrete and it looks great. I can't see why you couldn't just use the paint on the raw concrete without painting it first. It all comes down to using the correct paint for the elements. Hi! Pressure washing would be my first step! Only paint the whole porch if you want a different color showing through your stencil. Good luck!

You could leave the concrete as your base color and add a white stencil which would be soft and pretty.

You can do either but if you don't paint it the background will be grey. Choose a masonry paint for outdoor use. Sherwin Williams with tint any color. Put a sealer on it when done stenciling.

Hi Sharon, it depends on the look you want, you can have an aged look if you just clean and stencil, or a fresh new look if you paint, then stencil

You can clean it and then stencil it OR paint it first, it just depends if you want a different color than the color it is to stencil it.
