Is anyone still painting upper kitchen cabinets ...?
Is anyone still painting their upper kitchen cabinets a different color than the lower kitchen cabinets? I know this is all personal preferance, but I was just wondering if this fad was finished!

Would it devalue my fireplace to paint it out in white? It is currently gray brick.
We have built-ins on either side of our gray brick fireplace, and I would love to paint the fireplace out in white. However, my husband feels it would be a bad idea.
yes on almost all the rehab shows they do that for contrast - but like most fads you don't have to do what everyone else does lol - my cabinets are all the same color and my island is a different color and has been before this fad started
Yes it is a fad and a fad can be a personal choice if you choices are driven by what is trendy at the moment. I always felt that it looks like you changed your mind in the middle of painting your kitchen and never got around to painting it all the same color. But that is my opinion.
But do what makes YOU happy since you are the one who has to live with whatever you decide on.
Hi there,
I don't follow fashion! Better to set the fashion by doing your own thing - Have courage to trust in yourself !
Hello, I never really liked that fad, I am one who prefers the one color cabinets. Pick a color you love and paint them all! I love how the chalk paint looks on cabinets!
I still see it being done, but it's a personal preference.
I can see it sticking around for awhile. White or lighter colored upper cabinets keep the room from feeling dark and cramped. Being able to paint the lower cabinets a darker or fun color the homeowner loves gives some character and personality without sacrificing the feel of a light and clean kitchen.
Just like everything had to be pallet this and that, not that there isn't value and beauty in them, but thank goodness it is starting to fade out of popularity.
Your cabinets are your preference, paint them how you like.
I have still seen this in newly built homes so yes, it is still being done. I guess it is just personal preference.
Yes, this is still being done. And totally agree that this is a personal preference.
I don't think it's a fad but more of a personal choice. Just like people were painting their cabinets and manufacturers got wind of it and started producing painted cabinets. Designers started the idea of adding character to a kitchen by darker lower cabinets and white or cream upper cabinets. Took away from the "kitchen" feel and easier to maintain. So paint your cabinets what ever your taste is or what suits you. After all it's only paint.
I agree it’s a personal choice also sometimes the center island is differently hued. Consider doing what makes you happy.
I see it probably 25% of the posts in the groups that I participate in on FB.
Yes it is still done, but It is a personal choice. I do not like the two toned cabinets, but do like to highlight an Island. I think two toned cabinets chop up the kitchen.
It’s a personal preference and it is a bit trendy but if you like the look and it makes you happy, I wouldn’t worry about what others think.
