How to clean scum off shower door.?

  • Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 solution of Dawn dish soap and vinegar. Spray it on the hard water/soap scum stains and let it work. If they are tougher stains, you may have to scrub with a plastic scrubber!

Hello. As a follow-up suggestion once you remove your scum and shower door discoloration and stains you might want to consider using rainX. Spraying the rainX on will give a protective coating to the door.

Lots of products cut scum. CLR, Awesome from the Dollar store and Bio cleaner paste with a scrub Daddy sponge all work well.

I can attest to CLR working wonders!

CLR works wonders especially with water that is high in minerals. Another choice that is a go-to is 5-6 oz blue dawn dish soap in a 32 oz water bottle and fill with white vinegar, mix it and then squirt it onto the glass, scrub after letting it set a few min, rinse well.

The best thing I have ever used is "wet & forget shower". You spray and that's all.

Next best thing is coarse salt as a scrubbing agent. Sprinkle on a grapefruit half. Then scrub away.

Lysol scum spray in the blue trigger spray bottle works pretty good too.

I use a bunch of used fabric softener sheets straight vinegar no water. The remaining softener in the sheet will also slow down the build up.

6 Reasons You'll Want a Can of Cooking Spray in the Bathroom

Turns out that your favorite go-to canola oil spray for non-stick cooking, like Pam Cooking Spray, also has some pretty stellar uses outside of the kitchen, too. Read ahead for a handful of surprisingly savvy ways to use cooking spray in your bathroom—yes, your bathroom—no skillet or cookie pans necessary.

    1. Clean soap scum off your shower

Who knew cooking spray could tackle soap scum buildup in your bathtub, shower, and sink? Since oil breaks down lime deposits, a quick spritz of cooking spray on your bathroom sink or shower tile will remove any gross grime in no time. Also leaves a coating that will repel water.

    2. Dry nail polish almost instantly

Believe it or not, cooking spray can help set your freshly painted manicure in minutes. All you have to do is spray a bit of cooking oil on your wet polish and then dip your finger in cold water for 30 seconds to score dry nails much faster than you would if you waited for them to air-dry. Your teenage girls will love this.

    3. Clean paint and grease off your skin

Looking for a foolproof way to remove paint and grease off your skin in a pinch? Spritz some nonstick cooking spray on your soiled skin, rub it in, and then wash it off with little soap and water to get rid of any pesky paint and grease in seconds.

    4. Shine your faucets

Nothing will make your bathroom fixtures glisten like a little bit of cooking spray. Spritz a tiny bit on your sink faucets and shower fixtures to rid them of buildup and allow them to really shine. Also leaving a fine coating that will repel water and future water spots.

    5. Clean your glass shower door

Just like nonstick cooking spray can remove tough grime buildup in your bathroom sink and tub, the same goes for cleaning your shower door, too. Simply spray a bit of oil directly on your dirty shower door to clear away the lime deposits and dirt real quick. Use a kitchen scrubby to clean off the crud. The fine coating left behind will repel water.

    6. Silence a squeaky bathroom door

Don't have any WD-40, all you need to silence a squeaky bathroom door is a tiny bit of non-stick cooking spray. Spritz a little oil directly onto the hinges of your bathroom door (or window) and quell those annoying noises for good.

I use this on everything but granite and Marble. It keeps my glass doors shining. Heat up 1 cup of white vinegar, mix in about 1/4 cup of Dawn Premium. Not the dollar store kind, because it is too thin. When mixed, pour into a spray bottle and fill with water. Shake. Spray down the grout and let it sit overnight. In the morning rinse. If you have stubborn stains, spray again. Use this mixture a few times a week. It will keep your grout and tiles clean. Also works wonders in the toilet bowl to keep hard water stains at bay. Oh you only have to heat the vinegar one time when you add the Dawn.

  • Just mix about 3 tablespoons of lemon juice to one cup of water in a spray bottle. Use this to spray your glass shower doors and the frame thoroughly. Allow the mixture break down the scum and stains for five minutes. Clean and wipe everything using a clean sponge, then dry and buff the glass and frame with a microfiber cloth.

  • I use a 50/50 mix of vinegar and dish soap in a spray bottle. Let it sit a few minutes then give a light scrub. Clear as day after!

If you use a squeegee after each shower, there will be no accumulation of soap scum. It's quick and saves a lot of scrubbing.

Dollar store shampoo works well. Smear it on and spray it off with a hand held shower head or get a spray bottle filled with water and wet down the door. Shampoo gets gunk out of your hair and will do the same thing on glass.

In a spray bottle, mix 1 part white vinegar with 1 part grease-fighting dish soap. Spray glass door, and close to allow the solution to set and drip back into the shower. Use a cloth to scrub the surface by hand after about 20-30 minutes, and completely dry it.
