we had golden oak cabinets and we stained them without any primer or anything and it worked great but not with this paint we used a wood stain the reviews I read on this paint are favorable just try on a cabinet door first and then you will know if you like it or not
You can find it at Amazon and Walmart. From the reviews there there is nothing less than 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I would highly recommend that you use a self leveling paint that is formulated for cabinets. Although Heirloom Traditions is a wonderful paint I'm not sure how it would hold up in a high traffic area like kitchen cabinets.
You can use any paint for kitchen cabinets even though there are specific paints made for that. The object is to seal the paint job to protect it.

Whatever you do Please do not use Chalk paint on the kitchen cabinets. Chalk paint scratches easily and collects grease. It is a lot of work to paint cabinets correctly and you do not want to have to do that again within a year. Go to Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams and get a good acrylic paint. If you can get a paint sprayer. An inexpensive one is the Homaemax sprayer works well and easy to clean.
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint for mine but I found an article on Pinterest that talks about Heirloom Traditions paint and cabinets https://www.pinterest.com/pin/105482816263910280/
