cloudy pool

I just had an inground pool installed, its a salt clorinator, the last 2 rains we have had in the past week the pool gets very cloudy, where you can't see the bottom, the pool was clear the day before hand. The pool was just shocked, thought that didn't clear it up, I had to put a chemical in their to clear up cloudy pools that did work. Any suggestions of what is going on?

what did your pool installer company say? they must see this often with all of their customers.

I am actually there 4th pool they ever installed, so no help with them, I think I have figured it out, we will see, my ph was low
  • Water chemistry is critical in keeping the water clear and safe to swim. Assuming this is your perhaps first pool you will soon see that the water will need to be checked quite often in the beginning as you learn all the ins and outs of keeping the water clear. Particularly if your running a salt water pool. Over time you will figure out what really works and what does not.

Thank you for your help, its not my first pool, but because its a liner I am trying to be more careful with just dumping chemicals in it like the other gunite pool. I always wanted to do it right, but never took the time. So this will be my top priortity. thanks again.
  • The really only issue with a liner pool is chlorine. This will bleach out the vinyl colors. The other chemicals will do little to hurt the look or performance of the liner. My first liner in my pool lasted over 15 years, although faded on the side of the sun it was fine. Only reason for changing it out was the fade, Did not leak, never had any cuts or damage, but we were careful on what types of toys were allowed in the pool and kept the doggie out so nails were not an issue.
