DIY Concrete Table Top

My sister had added a concrete top to her coffee table, and I fell in love. I immediately thought of an old side table we had inherited from the previous home owner and knew it needed concrete...

Adding concrete to a table top isn't as hard as you would expect! This was done with no special tools!

This is the side table we had inherited from the previous homeowner.

I mixed a "feather light" concrete. It really doesn't take much!

I added a few layers at a time - check out my blog post for al the details.

Here's the piece after I added all the concrete layers.

Once the final layer was dry, I lightly sanded the surface.

Adding a sealer was my final step.

And the result was a more industrial look! (I also stripped the wood and added a darker stain. To see more, check out my blog post.)

I love this! How has it held up? Did you have to prime or epoxy for the concrete to stick? Sorry for all these question! You did a really lovely job and I am definitely going to try this out in the future! Hugs from Japan. :)

I really love the look of the cement, and how it added a lot to the look of this table. I feel like having the extra little bit of flare with the cement makes it a really cool accent piece in the room. I don't know much about the cement I would need to use though, I'm sure a cement contractor would know and be able to do all your big projects for you at the same time. http://www.ingrattacement.ca
