And so can you! We started with about a 10x10 room in our basement. Here's how it looked before. If the word "cave" came to mind, we concur.
**The full step by step is posted HERE >>>, but for now, we'll show you the basics so you can decide if you'd like to give it a try!

The first step, though is to measure. You may have guessed that already. But if you're going to take this project on, you need to know WHAT, and HOW MUCH material you'll need. Salvaged wood is usually sold in board lengths, not square feet, FYI.
Now, you'll need to find your wood! "How?" you ask. It depends. If you live in a rural area and have some neighbors with old barns, you may have to look no further! If not, head over to the blog...we've got a couple ideas up our sleeves for you to try.
At this point, you'll start getting into the nitty gritty of installation. It's not a hard job, but we did pick up a bunch of tips along the way based on lots of trial, and an equal amount of error.
We've done this in two spaces at this point, with this technique. In one room, we installed on a drywalled ceiling, and on the other, directly to the joists, so we have tips and suggestions for both kinds of install to help you out.
We will say that installation is definitely a two person job, so make sure you have a helper ready on install day! It's not a bad project, at all, and when it's done, it will give any space a charming, rustic, weathered look.
