I need major help with this wall! I want to put a round mirror either teal or silver behind with large frames or something on the side or should I do a photo collage?
I have another wall on the opposite side that's half this size where I was going to do the family collage. Any ideas??
This is the small wall which doesn't face anything

You need a large item on your back wall.A large round mirror would be great. If the wall still does not have enough interest,Some smaller unique mirrors around the center mirror would be a great look.Martha Stewart sells a Home Depot a great starburst mirror for about 30.00.very pleased with mine.

Something large, a mirror, ironwork, a collage of silver plated trays or frames.

Maybe a candle sconce on either side of the large mirror? And what about a large empty frame around the photos you have already up, in the second picture?

What about a Family Tree branches flowing out anyway you like

If this room is dark, I would add a lot of mirrors to reflect any light. Starting with one large, adding small ones around it.

I think a tree would look great there with the family pictures around it buy a colorful one at Gordmans or Burlington coat factory cheap but looks great. Also I would frame the pictures up with a different touch and color.

One thing you might consider is getting several old windows and using them to showcase some of your favorite photos...or old doilies, pressed flowers, etc. The photos can be changed out or added to as the kids grow!

The possibilities are endless for a large blank wall. you need a large design or item to anchor it. If you put the collage there, you might consider mounting it on a large panel of contrasting color in a large frame.

The Container store has a wall decoration that has 4 panels for 9$ that you can use to draw dramatic attention to the space...

I plan on using colorful ribbons to hide the silver ring connectors....

Lots of options. But if I could say one thing about what to put on your wall I'd say "Think big!" :-)

I'm putting a large gold flur de leigh (spell??). Then a lot of smaller gold mirrors around that.

I took a design class many years ago and the one piece of advice I've used time and again is choose the art you love and plan your room around it. Several paintings or prints together on a big wall can look stunning. I've also used collections on my walls. I have a collection of old hats on a stairway and I have a collection of small purses hanging in an entry way. The idea is to surround yourself with things you love to look at rather than just filling the space. I like personal photos kept in more personal spaces, where you can enjoy them but everyone else doesn't have to look at them.

I would suggest large art either painting or material collage art.

My lots of ideas!! For me, the vent is an eyesore. I would find or build a long rather large shelf, perhaps old mantle at a thrift shop or yard sale, have fun painting or staining it...place it a bit on the high side and decorate with silk green plants under and near the vent area..not blocking the vent just a bit of camoflage and you would still have wall space below to decorate w/mirrors/pictures etc. You could copy the look of your white mantle only shelf stly.

May I suggest some type of long canvas, almost the length of the sofa as a center piece. Throw some bright paint on it using a spray bottle. It's inexpensive and eye catching. Then build your wall décor around it.

I bought my daughter and her family that Family Rules sign 2 years ago for Christmas! As far as the large wall goes I was going to suggest a Natural outdoor ocean scene paper or a wooded scene. I'd go for the wooded scene if it were me because of the brown sofa. OR if maybe you want to get some teal or mixed color with teal pillows you could do an ocean scene. Good luck! Here's a result for all sorts of links for wall paper mural scenes and some of them are removable! https://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=slv1-tyc9&p=wall%20scene%20paper&type= and this one: https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A0LEVzwh9QxUDZsAfgJXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTB0ZHI4MXEwBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1FCQUNLMV8x?_adv_prop=image&fr=slv1-tyc9&va=wall+scene+paper

Definitely think big! :) I like what you've got started on the other wall, to put on the bigger wall. Try laying whatever you're going to put on the wall, onto the floor temporarily until you decide on placement. I would also suggest spacing things out a bit more, not enough so that they seem unrelated, just enough to soak up some wall space(since you've got plenty). Beware of getting too busy or too crowded(unless you like crowded, and I've seen pix in my décor books that pull off crowded- although I wouldn't want to live with it myself). As for color, well, there's lots of ways to play it: neutral, pops of color, coordinated colors.

What about a few rubber/plastic welcome mats, spraypainted a color to compliment your sofa? Then you hang them like a work of art-I've seen that all over this site.

I love using assorted mirrors, large and small like a gallery wall. Mirrorw reflect light and will reflect your family gallery wall. THINK BIG is a great suggestion for both walls. You can add your frame collection to expand the space. Work the frames in amoung the mirorrs. Have fun!

If there is an IKea around you, they have some great pictures that would be large enough to fill up that space. And they are priced pretty well.

I would stick to the gallery wall for pics & make your large wall with mirrors. I wasn't to kean on the teal or silver, both would have been to gaudy. I'm now wondering if my Fleur de lis mirror & other small mirrors will work out, since I have flowered wall paper up. Now wishing wall was just painted. I live by myself, don't have $$$ to take down wall paper. Can't take back mirrors, non refundable. Good luck.

Big space. I'd do a large horizontal art piece over the sofa. Period. If you like modern, you could do it yourself. Nobody will notice the vent as the eye will be drawn to the pic. Your pic doesn't show what is beside the sofa.. I like big plants - real or artificial to soften spaces and create coziness. You could add one of these so as not to detract from the big art piece. Shorter wall - your collage is placed a bit high. I would lower the items or add more below.

Remember this, start from the left in an arrangement and work to the right , sitting eye level in a sitting area and standing level in a standing area. keep the arrangement large in a large area and it tends to make that area more important and attractive . Of course use items that make you feel good , good luck

How about getting 3-4 painters canvas' and choosing like (same color themes) wall paper samples, or scrap booking paper, cut to size, and glued to the canvas'. You can add scrap booking accessories..(flowers, ribbon, lettering, stamping) and even your own photos to each one. Just like a scrap booking page in an album! Instant art, and if you watch for coupons and sales, it could be really cheap art! Good luck!

You have BIG wide open wall space, so I think first you need to start thinking big!! Find things you really love, try garage sales and flea Markets, and make it your very own. You have wonderful taste, it's just small for your home.
