Boring Kitchen Gets An Upscale Renovation With Family In Mind

This Marietta, Georgia kitchen was basic, boring and a little small for the happy, growing family that lived in it. The homeowner contacted AK and together we designed a plan to expand their kitchen with a small addition and tailor their new space to fit their family's every need! The end result was a warm, inviting kitchen for family and friends that could not only feed a busy family but also be a homework central, party central and the dog's new favorite spot in the house!
Here are all the details:
Cabinets are Medallion Designer Collection, Maple with Hazelnut Burnish.
Granite is Santa Fe Brown.
Backsplash is Baja Cream Tumbled Tile, 4"x4" main body tiles with Walnut Tumbled Tile 2" x 12" chair rail border tiles.
Aquadis fixtures & Franke sink.
Appliances: Wolfe 30" Double Oven, Wolfe 36" Gas Cooktop, Dacor Warming Drawer, Best By Boran Hood, SubZero 632 Frig, Bosch Dishwasher, Wolfe Microwave (Proof that if you know what you're doing, it's A-OK to combine brands!)

This was the kitchen before! Well kept & cared for but a basic, Atlanta builder-style kitchen; not suited for the family that lived there.
This is a view of the old kitchen where the addition would go. We "bumped out" the space to add-on to the kitchen.
The new kitchen & the family computer center. This way the kids can get on the internet in view of whomever else is in the kitchen, or do their homework while mom or dad is close by!
Island detail & a view of the eating area. You can see more of AK's work @ http://bit.ly/atlantakitchens
You can eat breakfast or a quick dinner at the island and still have tons of space for prep work!
High-end appliances were a must have for this client's remodel. They loved to cook for their family & guests!
The warming drawer was cleverly disguised with a custom cabinetry panel! This client was looking for more warmth and less steel.
