DIY Crate and Pipe Industrial Table

Usually I create new things out of the old, but this time I started with something new! Can you believe this started out as one of those plain wooden crates from the craft store?
A little stain and some copper piping can go a long way!
Here's the crate that I got from Michaels.
And here are the supplies that I used for the frame of the table.
And here's me in Home Depot looking like a crazy person trying to piece my frame together :)
I stained the crate using Dark Walnut and then used a simple white wash (mix of white paint and water) over top and sealed it with a flat topcoat.
I used the Hammered spray paint for the copper pipes and the Krylon Metallic for the tube straps that hold the pipe to the crate. All sealed with the Matte Finish.

What exactly did you use in the crate? The white wash is what I’m curious about? And the product brands you recommend.

In the picture of supplies, what is the black thing with the red end? I can't tell by the picture.
