Using Vintage Pieces for a Unique & Colorful Fall Mantle

I know. I know. You've seen several fall mantle ideas already. But, I promise you that no one else has this one. Why? Because I've incorporated one-of-a-kind antique mall finds to personalize my family room's fireplace mantle.
Start your fall make-over with a clean slate.
I had no idea what I would do differently this fall. So, I headed to my favorite antique mall & scoured the aisles for inspiration. This is my Tip for you. Look for inspiration in a flea market, antique shop, garage sale or your grandmother's basement.
Vary shapes and heights of selected pieces
I already owned the HomeGoods wreath and the distressed white mirror, which was found at a garage sale many years ago. I added the vintage black metal box which I think was some sort of feed box at some time. I really am uncertain, but I loved the size, color and opportunities for filling it.
Mix real and artificial pumpkins
I initially added artificial fall leaves to the container but felt it was TOOOO much so I removed some of the leaves and added 3 bags of real mini pumpkins found at my local grocery store and also some artificial pumpkins bought at Michaels for $6.00 with my coupon. Can't wait to see what I'll do with this container for Christmas!
Dress up a store-bought fall wreath!
I added a cement "wreath" element to the center of this store-bought wreath for added dimension and impact. And, because I love gray accents, too.

There is so much more to this space. One final photo to come. Check by my blog: Chocolate and Sunshine, for more details and DIYs on the metal sign hanging in the center of the fireplace.
I love how I incorporated store-bought items with vintage and nature.

Happy Fall!
