Coat Closet/Mini Mudroom

Create a coat closet or mini mudroom with additional shelving and hooks. Also a great place to store back packs and the everyday items like sunscreen during the summer and scarves/gloves/hats during the winter months.
One of the first steps in creating our closet was to clear it all out and sort through what we really needed for each season. During the winter months, we have one coat for each person and the rest of our coats were donated. The cubbies also allow us to change out things for the current season.
Creating cubbies at the top of the closet allows for the perfect place to keep those everyday items easily accessible.
Placing hooks on each side allows for a quick and easy place to store coats, back packs, purses or umbrellas.
Lower shelving allows for a great place to store your shoes.
A larger hook can be placed on the inside of the door to store larger coats, purses, or grocery bags.
Underneath the lower shelf is a great place to keep bins or baskets. We keep some of the kid's toys in there like legos and puzzles.

If you had taken out everything before you redid your closet, even the prior closet would have looked much better. Sure the new one looks great but it is comparing apples to oranges as to which one makes a better fruit. Both do, they are just are different. Ideally you would have taken a photograph with everything in the new closet, or only the items that remained in the original closet. But then you were remodeling the closet not setting up a before and after photo shoot from the beginning. You weren't, were you?

Our first step after clearing it all out was to keep only what was needed and donate the rest. Then from there the closet was remodeled to try and maximize the space to the best of our abilities.

This is fantastic - exactly the kind of thing I need. Thanks!
