DIY Fabric headboard

I love making headboards. This little cottage bedroom needed some bold color and some height (despite the 7" ceilings!)
My only option for placing the bed was between the windows and I hesitated to block the light, but I think this headboard gives me the height and pattern I was looking for, without compromising the natural light.
I used 1/2" MDF, 2 yards of Sunbrella, some quilt batting and a staple
Just push the bed up against it

I'm not all that crafty except in my imagination so pls excuse my ignorance. Where might one buy sunbrella material by the yard? How many yards did this project take?

JoAnn's fabrics Seven Corners, va. Has a limited selection. Google "sunbrella" Would suggest you find a sample before ordering online.

I have been debating getting a new headboard but this looks just as good and will save some money. Thanks for sharing, hopefully mine will look that great!
