Is Halloween a big thing for you? I would love to create a truly spooky scene in our garden but when there are little people living in your street it's probably not a good idea. I would hate to be the cause of them having nightmares. So we usually decorate on a small scale. This year we created a this little Halloween love story..........
Glass gems, with their beautiful jewel-like finish, are a wonderful material to craft with. They are useful in many projects, but adding light to the mix really brings them alive. In this tutorial, we show you how to make your own beautiful glass gem lantern that is perfect to hold a candle or LED lights. You’ll be amazed at how simple it is to make.
A total transformation took place in this kitchen. Notice the before picture. The family has lived in this home for 20 years and the room felt heavy to them. The wanted an update with more room, storage, and counter space. The brick was removed and new custom cabinets and stainless steel appliances put in it's place. Imagine creating lunches to banquets in this beautiful kitchen.
So I have been waiting several years to replace all my kitchen appliances and the day finally came. However, my cabinets needed a new face lift. So, I decided to repaint. I found this paint at Lowe's that is for cabinets and doesn't require too much prep. I used Mr. Clean erasers to clean the cabinets well. Those erasers are wonderful to remove dirt, grease, glossy finishes and so on.
I found a set of old Duncan Phyfe style chairs at a thrift shop. They were scratched, stained, flat, and musty. They must've been stored in a basement for quite a long time because the smell was potent. After some TLC, I was able to give these chairs a new life!
Does your home’s exterior need some freshening up? Repainting your shutters can make a big impact and it can be done in a weekend with an HVLP sprayer. Follow my tutorial as I give my shutters new life with General Finishes Klein Blue Milk Paint.Sometimes the hardest part of a painting project is picking out a color. I had recently repainted the front door in Klein Blue and loved it. But I wasn’t sure if blue shutters would be too much. Maybe I should go with gray…or keep them black? Part of the house is brick and part is siding, so the color needed to look nice on both. I debated for months.I found one of those online tools where you upload a picture of your house (or room, whatever you are painting) and change the colors. There are several free ones available and boy, are they handy. Wow, now I could visualize my house with blue shutters! I tried a few other colors but KIein Blue was the clear favorite.
I love it when people ask me if I can make them something that I’ve never made before. I hardly ever think I can’t make that. Instead, I think how can I make that? Case in point: my friend Beth asked if I could make her a cork board. I’ve never made a cork board before but of course I said yes!Beth has a successful career in the fashion industry and she needed somewhere to pin up samples and orders at her desk. She had been taping things to the wall behind her desk which resulted in the paint slowly chipping away (not quite the inspiring workplace view she was hoping for).
I have a small laundry room that is the only access to my back deck and yard. I’ve lived in my home now over three years now and just hated the mess of open shelving and various brooms and mops showing. It’s a small room with no options of adding more space, so I decided to use the 18” of space between the dryer and open shelving. I decided a rolling broom closet would be the perfect solution. And I decided while I was doing all this to go ahead and paint the cabinets over the washer and dryer. I had already purchased bins for the open shelving and it made a big difference. The updates just completed the look I was hoping for.
Tearing and replacing the tile in your bathroom can be expensive, difficult, and time consuming! Not to mention the tools required to cut tile are pretty pricey too! While I wouldn't recommend a tile project for a beginner DIYer, this project is one you can do no matter your skill level! If you can read and follow directions, you can transform your dated bathroom tile with a little bit of PAINT!I teamed up with a Hometalker in my community who had wanted to transform her bathroom for a while but needed a bit of help and guidance. With my help, we created a space she loved! If you're in the Houston area, I can help you create this look for your home! Click here to see how I can help you & send me a message to get started!
I always loved the look of a fire pit, the idea of sitting outside relaxing under the stars whilst watching the flames just appealed, but I only had a small terrace. So i put my creative head on and with a few euros and some basic garden and craft supplies my lovely fire pit was built.
I'm sure if you look around in your cupboards you will find one or two of these, we all have them. By them I mean the silver serving platters. I inherited mine and held on to them. Never actually used them for what they were supposed to be used for, but I loved the shape of them. So when I was searching for the perfect frame for my beloved Grandma's pictures these immediately came to mind. My Gramma lived to the beautiful age of 103. She passed last November due to complications from a fall. Up until then she was blessed with good health and was able to live in her own home. I was given a picture of her when she was a young girl of 13 and I had the picture of her already of her at 103. She is deeply missed but these pictures help fill that void and are a reminder of what a remarkable woman she was.
