I painted an old oak wall shelf...then just rested it over my cabinets...instant display space! Easy to take down and clean. The best part was I didn't have to utter those terrifying words "Honey, I need to hang something..."

    What do you mean you "rested" it on your cabinet? First, it looks like it's over a window and second, you must of had to use some type of nails or something to keep it up.

    You are lucky to live in Michigan. Where I live (California) you not only have to nail down the shelf, but you have to "nail down" the stuff on the shelf as well (earthquakes, you know). Cute stuff and cute shelf though!
