@Judy Kelley I would try a very pale pink, not as pink as the tile, but something soft and muted. Or maybe a soft grey. I think a lighter shade of paint would make the room feel more open.

Well I can't really tell what color either room is by these photos. Can you retake and get some light on the rooms. If you wan it to pop use a color directly across from it on color wheel. If you want it to blend use a shade 3 times lighter than the other one.In a small room I would use something very light or install more lights.

Since the toilet is a "room", it needs to have the illusion of light. Look at going an very light color...one of what paint companies call their "whites" collection. I have a small half bath (bigger than that toilet room) but it has a window which lets in a lot of light. Remember, any color you pick will look bolder on the wall so get almost white. If you pick gray, make it a ware gray instead of a blue gray!

I think a soft light gray would really make those pink tiles and fixtures look good; and paint the wooden trim white especially if you are putting up white beadboard. You could even have silvery gray wallpaper with a muted pattern instead of paint.

A nice mauve would do it!

I like he idea of beadboard wallpaper halfway up with white trim and a light gray on top. Good luck. Post pictures, please.

    Definitely a soft gray!

I agree that a very light gray would make the space brighter. I would be careful of wallpaper in this particular area.

You know you can paint the wallpaper too. I am using my 'beadboard wallpaper' in my dining room and I like the idea of painting it a light gray. You have a lovely idea here. Please post photos so we may gush over them.

I would paint it a nice silvery-gray color.

Just wondering....is that sponge painting in the vanity area? Maybe it's time to do a beadboard/paint treatment area in there and the toilet area too. Beadboard below, paint above in whatever color suits your fancy. If you still like the rose, go for it :-) Or change to a new color to update.

Yes, it is sponge painting. The picture really doesn't do it justice. It really looks good. thanks for responding.

I think my tile might be similar to yours Judy! Using sheetrock mud from Home Depot, I added texture to the wall, painted it in a cream and then rubbed a coffee-color glaze over that. Here are some pictures of mine:

My thoughts are with a light silvery grey in the WC, no half way up bead boar"white" also may be too much. Definitely the same light silvery grey on bead board around the sink area, maybe thats where you could bring in the lovely rosey/mauve toned down/muted and painted onto the textured walls above, white accents and trim as there is now. An option.....do the length of the wall behind toilet, floor to ceiling in beadboard, paint it light silvery grey.OMG Can just picture it. P.S I might be tempted to paint the medicine cabinet white too.

Like the marble looking paper/paint treatment you already have - just not so much of it. I'd keep it for the bottom and continue the wainscoting into the toilet area to help unify the two areas. Then I'd paint the top portion a very soft shade of pink or a neutral. . I'd also lower the pic over the toilet and place the topiary elsewhere. Think a dark green leafy artificial plant in a low black container on the toilet tank would soften lines, provide some visual interest + colour contrast to all the pinks....I'd add a few other black accent pieces sparingly here and there in both areas. You probably already have things you could use. Might also think about a black mat to help ground the room.

I agree with post above about using black to ground room. I also agree with the suggestions try using grey as a neutral color to add some balance to the sponged painted area. Black will give the rest of the room the balance and help define the lines of the room. Grab a few shades of grey paint chips from darker than you think you'd like to a few on the lighter side of the dark shades and set them next to the sponged walls. I bet you may surprise yourself with how much you like the darker shade. Dark grey is a fabulous color that is under used and can do so much for a color

Yes, I like that! how difficult is that? my tile is actually a cream color.

Judy, I have that exact picture over your toilet, but mines over the mantle over the fireplace. I love the colors used in.
